Ko wai tātau?
WHO ARE WE?
Growing up as Tangata Whenua, people of the land in Aotearoa , indigenous yet disconnected — was a long, lonely road.
I grew up not knowing how to speak my language, and it’s been a long journey learning who I am and where I belong. Our tamariki are lucky - Te Reo Māori is their first language and only language spoken in our home, their lives are filled with our culture. Coming home and reconnecting with our whakapapa and whenua has opened a whole new world for our whānau.
Echoes of Waimārama was born from that journey - from the joy of rediscovering who we are and the pride of sharing it with others. When you visit us, you’ll see the beauty of our land, hear our stories, learn our traditional games and activities, learn a haka and a poi dance and feel the warmth of being welcomed like whānau. It’s more than a visit - it’s a glimpse into our lives, our history, and our hopes for the future.
Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au.
I am the land and the land is me
Nau mai, Haere mai, Welcome, welcome, welcome
